Gifford Park planning annual Historic House Tour

The Gifford Park Association recently announced plans for the 26th annual Historic House Tour.

This year's housewalk will take place from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Homes on the tour are all located within the near west side neighborhood.

The self guided tour will feature interiors and exteriors of eight private homes dating from the last quarter of the 19th century through the first quarter of the 20th century.

Tour volunteers will guide people through the homes while providing information about the house's history and architecture.

Ticket cost $15 in advance and $20 on the day of the tour; $10 tickets are available for those younger than 12 or 65 and older. Advanced tickets for the tour will be available starting in July at: Elgin Ace Hardware, both at Spring Street and Lillian Street; Elgin Jewel Foods, both at Summit Street and Larkin Avenue; and Al's Cafe and Creamery, 43 DuPage Court.

Tickets also can be purchased online at www.gifford-park-assoc.org. There is an additional processing fee.

The tour headquarter the day of the event will be at Fire Station No. 6, 707 W. Chicago St. Advance ticket holders can pick up their tour booklets at check-in, and new tickets will also be for sale. For more information, visit www.gifford-park-assoc.org or call (847) 697-3370.
