Classic Cars to return to Milk Pail

The Milk Pail Restaurant will hold The Milk Pail Classic Car Show, as usual, on the last Sunday in August. The ninth annual event will be held Sunday.

When The Milk Pail Restaurant and Entertainment Center decided to host a car show, they contacted George and Jon Schwartz, two local classic car aficionados, to present the show.

With local business sponsorship, they have built the event into one of the pre-eminent local car shows. Last year's attendance was more than 200 cars, ranging from restored muscle cars and historic classics to kit cars and one-of-a-kind originals.

There is a drawing for modest prizes but, as the Milk Pail feels that the cars participating are all unique and special, no awards or trophies are given.

However, no participant goes away empty-handed. Goodie bags filled with catalogs and car memorabilia, as well as a dash plaque, are given to the first 200 drivers as a "thank you" for bringing their special cars and sharing them with the public and fellow car enthusiasts.

This year's show will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at The Milk Pail on Route 25, just north of I-90, in Elgin .

Food and beverages, including a beer garden, are available with shaded parking areas for the early birds.

The entry fee is $3. Spectators are admitted free.
