Teen faces attempted murder charges

A 16-year-old is facing attempted murder charges after police said he shot another teen in Hanover Park.

Police said the teenager, on whom no personal information was released, was charged Saturday with one count of attempted first degree murder in connection with a shooting from earlier in the week.

Hanover Park police said they were called to the 5500 block of Court H about 8:10 p.m. Aug. 13 and found an 18-year-old man who had sustained multiple gun shot wounds.

The victim, police said, was treated and released for the injuries from St. Alexius Center in Hoffman Estates.

With the help of the DuPage Major Crimes Taskforce, Hanover Park police were able to identify a suspect in the shooting who had fled the area.

Police said they were able to locate and take the 16-year-old into custody Saturday. No information on where the arrest occurred was released.

Police did not release any bond or court information on the charged juvenile.
