Democrat groups team to talk winning ways

The Wheeling Township Democrats, Palatine Township Democrats, New Trier Township Democrats and Northfield Township Democrats will co-sponsor the Democratic Party conference, "Grass-roots Democracy and Winning Elections," from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Chevy Chase Country Club, 1000 N. Milwaukee Ave., Wheeling.

The public is invited. Special guests include Illinois Sen. Richard Durbin, Rep. Jan Schakowsky of Chicago and Cook County Commissioner Forest Claypool. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.

Cost is $12 per person, which includes a box lunch and drink. An R.S.V.P. and registration are required.
