10-year-old All Stars reach championship tournament

The Grayslake National 10-year-old Travel All Star Team reached the championship finals in the GYBA Alex John Richardson Memorial Tournament held on July 22. The Nationals pitched a perfect game and produced 16 hits and 11 RBIs against the Gurnee Red Patriots for a 13-0 win. The hard-hitting Nationals generated 64 runs for the tournament, which included five games.

In the title game, National pitchers Domenic DiProva, Jordan Fuller and David Llorens pitched a no hitter with 5 K's and no walks in five innings and were backed up by outstanding defense by Jonathan Hoffmann (SS), Will Hauser (1B), Connor Fitzgerald (2B), Joey Lythcke (3B), Sam Cremin (CF), David Reed (C), John Stopka (LF), Michael Higdon (C) and Mike Huiras (SS, 2B). Hitting was also key to the Nationals success in the championship with RBI contributions by Will Hauser (1 RBI), Connor Fitzgerald (1 RBI), Sam Cremin (1 RBI), David Reed (1 RBI), John Stopka (2 RBIs) and Joey Lythcke (5 RBIs).
