Illinois PGA's 2007 award winners

The 11 recipients of 2007 Illinois PGA awards will be honored Thursday, Nov. 1, during a reception sponsored by EZGO at Arboretum Club in Buffalo Grove.

Here are award winners:

•Golf Professional of the Year: Carmen Molinaro, Arboretum Club and Buffalo Grove Golf Club in Buffalo Grove.

•Assistant Golf Professional of the Year: John Kiriakopoulos, Ravinia Green Country Club in Riverwoods.

•Teacher of the Year: Kevin Weeks, Cog Hill Golf and Country Club in Lemont.

•Junior Golf Leader Award: Cortney Miller, at Winnetka Golf Club.

•Bill Strausbaugh Award (for mentoring fellow professionals and improving employment situations in the Illinois PGA): Bruce Carson Onwentsia Club in Lake Forest.

•Horton Smith Award (outstanding and continuing contributions to developing and improving education opportunities for fellow golf professionals): Jim Opp, Bonnie Dundee Golf Course in Carpentersville

•PGA Merchandiser of the Year (private facilities): Andy Shuman, Twin Orchard Country Club in Long Grove

•PGA Merchandiser of the Year (public facilities): Don Habjan, Makray Memorial Golf Club in Barrington

•PGA Merchandiser of the Year (resort facilities): Randy Bolstad, Oak Brook Hills Resort in Oak Brook

•President's Plaque Award (extraordinary and exemplary contributions and achievements in the area of player development and growth of the game leadership): Dennis Johnsen, Pine Meadow Golf Course in Mundelein

•Bill Heald Career Achievement Award: David Ogilvie III of Frankfort
