Briefs: Model T's take to streets
The Fox Valley Chapter of the Model T Ford Club International will hold its annual car show and parade lap Sunday. This event is in remembrance of the Elgin National Road Races, held from 1910-33 on Elgin's west side. All cars are welcome. Registration starts at 11 a.m. at Larkin High School, 1475 Larkin Ave., in Elgin. The registration fee is $5. It is free to spectators. This year's show will feature an original 1933 race-winning Ford on display. There will be a raffle at 2 p.m. and a parade lap over original race course at 3 p.m. Call Steve Thoren at (847) 840-7319.
Lanes closed downtown
Partial lane closures will take place through Wednesday in downtown Aurora on Downer Place between Hoyt Place and River Street, on New York Street from River Street to Lake Street, and on Hoyt Place. In addition, Pinney Street will be closed to traffic during this period, officials said. Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible. The timeframe for street closures may be changed due to bad weather, officials say. The work is part of a large-scale infrastructure project to provide more sanitary sewer, storm sewer and water main capacity for downtown Aurora and the Fox River corridor.
