Briefs: Infected mosquitoes found

The DuPage County Health Department found a sample of mosquitoes infected with West Nile virus Friday in a surveillance trap near the intersection of St. Charles and Kuhn roads in Carol Stream. The village is warning residents to take precautions to minimize the risk of creating breeding areas for mosquitoes on or near their homes.

Overnight 355 lane closure

Two southbound lanes of the North-South Tollway approaching the Army Trail Road Toll Plaza will close at 11 p.m. today for overhead sign maintenance. Two full-lane 15 minute closures of the southbound lanes also are scheduled between midnight and 1 a.m. All lanes will re-open at 2 a.m. Sunday.

Party makes a move

Naperville Culture Center has moved its second anniversary party to a new location. The event will run from 6:30 to 9 p.m. today in the Masala Yangu East African restaurant in the Jefferson Hill Shops, 43 E. Jefferson Ave., Naperville. Organizers have planned a wine tasting, art exhibit, performances and buffet. Tickets are $30 per person, $50 per couple and free for ages 18 and younger. For details, call (630) 696-4177.

Fall preschool programs

The Carol Stream Public Library will begin accepting registration Sept. 17 for its fall series of preschool programming.
