It is about money, and using it on kids

"It's not about the money." Those are words of District 303's new superintendent. Let's hope that's not an indication of his personal philosophy, because that's exactly what it's about.

It's about the appropriate use of the taxpayer's money, and I don't believe hiring a consultant for $11,000 a month so the school district can get a pulse on the community is a responsible use of our tax dollars.

I would suggest if the superintendent wants to get to know his constituency, he host a series of town hall meetings at the two high schools.

I suggest if he included some discussion on how he intends to provide our students an excellent education with the resources we currently have while removing waste from our school budget he would receive a very warm response from the taxpayers in this community.

For many of us, it is about the money, about the ability to educate our students while providing fiscally responsible leadership.

Many taxpayers in District 303 are unwilling to provide additional tax increases to fund additional schools.

This reluctance is due to their belief that past administrations were irresponsible in the use of those tax dollars and they need reassurance both in communication and deed that this administration will act fiscally responsibly and deliver an exceptional education to our children.

So utilize the $132,000 that it will cost for a consultant to tell you how to communicate to your constituents on your constituent's children and you will be communicating a message this community has been waiting to hear for a very long time.

Want an education expert, not politician

The St. Charles School District 303 superintendent wants to hire a public relations firm at a cost of $11,000 a month for approximately a year to help him engage the public.

It seems to me this is a public relation stunt. The best kind of public relations would be for him to tell the public how he will improve the schools. The superintendent should know what to do to improve test scores and run an efficient school system.

He should explain using straightforward details and not with cute jargon like "best practices." St. Charles deserves an expert, not a politician.

Fault for numbers lies in our hands

A third of America's population is now made up of minorities. In 1 in 10 counties in the U.S., whites are the minority.

Well, boo hoo! What did you think was going to happen? Don't blame immigrants, minorities or the government for this situation. The fault is yours!

When the drug culture of the 1960s swept over our land, we collectively decided it was "party time." Instead of getting married, having children and participating in church and community events, we created "alternative lifestyles," legalized abortion and started hanging out at rock concerts and discotheques.

Now we're just getting what we deserve. Just as the decadent Romans saw their empire fracture and fall under the weight of a multi-lingual society, so, too, will we see ours melt away in a cauldron of multiculturalism.

America is not being co-opted by Third World and uncooperative domestic minorities. We've handed it to them on a silver platter.
