Fashion event looking for Palatine's next top 'model'

Have you ever thought about modeling?

Well, the Palatine Area Chamber of Commerce is looking for a few models for the Community Holiday Fashion Event from 5 to 9 p.m. Nov. 8 at Cotillion Banquet Hall, 360 S. Creekside Drive, Palatine.

Members of the public interested in participating or nominating someone as a model are welcome to compete in the "Model Palatine Citizen" contest.

Interested contestants should submit an essay on why they are a model Palatine citizen and why they should be selected for the runway. Target contestants include good citizens such as little league coaches, soccer moms, business owners, and Fremd or Palatine High School Boosters of all ages.

Completed essays are due by Sept. 1 to the Palatine Area Chamber of Commerce, 625 N. North Court, Suite 320, Palatine, IL, 60067. Essays should be limited to 500 words and no photo is requested. Please include contact information for the nominee.

"This is the chamber's fourth fashion show and we are excited to bring more public involvement to the event through this contest," said Liz Noe, fashion show chairwoman.

Noe said an adult man and woman, as well as two 13- to 17-year-olds will be chosen to be models.

Additional models participating in the fashion show will include representatives from the village of Palatine, school districts 15 and 211, local charity representatives and heads of commerce. Each model will be wearing the latest holiday fashions from local retail outlets.
