Police charge Bartlett man with drug possession

A 27-year-old Bartlett man was arrested Monday after officers raided his home and seized about 240 grams of marijuana, police said.

The DuPage County state's attorney's office charged David Ackerman, of 482 Nicole Drive, Unit A, with felony possession of cannabis with intent to deliver.

Bartlett police and the DuPage Metropolitan Enforcement Group also found $750 in cash, three handguns, three rifles, several boxes of ammunition and several pieces of drug paraphernalia in the raid, authorities said.

The marijuana, which totaled about half a pound, has a street value of nearly $2,500, said Bartlett Sgt. Michael McGuigan. He also said Ackerman has valid firearm owner's identification cards for the weapons.

Police obtained a search warrant after receiving several complaints from neighbors about people coming and going from Ackerman's residence, authorities said.

"We believe he's been dealing drugs for quite a while," McGuigan said.

Police also cited was his 25-year-old wife, Rebecca Ackerman, with possession of cannabis.

Bartlett police average three or four busts of this size each year, McGuigan said.

David Ackerman is free from DuPage County Jail on $5,000 bond.
