Blame, cause are two different issues

As a safety and health professional for more than 60 years, I can relate to Don Lindman's article, "Why do we want to assign blame for tragedies?"

Instead of trying to learn the true cause, sometimes we spend time and many dollars to find out who to blame and never really find the true cause, which, in many cases had nothing to do with the blame.

The many Congressional committees put on a show for TV and never come up with the cause. But many times, it's a means of political harassment, which is sickening.

The mention of how we drive when we see a police officer reminded me of a statement of the president of one of the major casualty insurance companies, "We will never have complete safety on the roads until drivers are never out of the sight of a police officer."
