Going for 300

The Mets' Tom Glavine will be going for victory No. 300 Sunday night at Wrigley Field. The two pitchers most recently to reach No. 300 had a chance to accomplish the feat at Wrigley Field but fell short:

•On June 7, 2003, the Yankees' Roger Clemens took the loss at the Cubs won 5-2. Clemens worked 61/3 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. He got No. 300 June 13 against the Cardinals.

•On Aug. 1, 2004, the Cubs' Greg Maddux got a no-decision in the Cubs' 6-3 victory over the Phillies. Maddux went 6 innings, allowing 3 runs (2 earned). Maddux earned No. 300 Aug. 7, 2004, at San Francisco.

Stacking up vs. Glavine

Lefty Tom Glavine can be tougher on right-handed batters than he is on lefties. Here is how a few key Cubs have done over the years against Glavine:

Mark DeRosa (left): 1-for-10 (.100), 1 HR

Cliff Floyd (left): 13-for-33 (.394), 2 HR

Jacque Jones (left): 0-for-8 (.000)

Jason Kendall (right): 8-for-40 (.200), 2 HR

Derrek Lee (right): 15-for-52 (.288), 2 HR

Aramis Ramirez (right): 11-for-22 (.500), 3 HR

Alfonso Soriano (right): 7-for-18 (.389), 1 HR

One hot July

The Cubs went 17-9 in July, marking the most wins by the club in July since a 17-9 record in 2000. The 17 victories were the most in the National League and second in the majors to the Yankees' 19.
