Nice debut

Inez Karlsson, profiled on this page last week, nearly made her career debut as a jockey an unforgettable one Thursday at Arlington Park. Aboard Classic Canyon (9-2) in the fourth race, Karlsson swung the 3-year maiden three-wide entering the stretch and pulled within a half-length of the leader in the stretch before falling back to finish third at the wire. Karlsson was also scheduled to ride in the sixth race, but her mount, Red Dynamo, was scratched.
