Elgin

•A gold 2006 Nissan Altima was stolen between 6 and 6:15 p.m. Wednesday from the 300 block of Belmont Avenue. Police said the car had been parked in front of the home.

South Elgin

•A 3-year-old child was left unattended for at least an hour July 25 outside a home and near a street, police said. A warrant was issued and Victoria L. Sanchez, 35, of 1495 N. Pembroke Drive, South Elgin, was arrested Wednesday on charges of endangering the life/health of a child, police said. Sanchez said she was sleeping at the time and the child got out of the locked home, a report said. Bond was set at $500 with a Sept. 9 court date.

•An abandoned boat that was taking on water was found at East Avenue Park at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Its owner, Jaime Figueroa, 41, of 1100 Adrienne Drive, South Elgin, was cited for an abandoned watercraft, police said. There also is a $265 towing charge for retrieving the boat from the river.
