Plane lands on school lawn:

A Harvard pilot crashed his small plane into a sign at an elementary school Monday morning in Greenwood, north of Woodstock. The pilot, 62-year-old Thomas Chapman, and his passenger, 29-year-old Roch Magelby-Lambert, were not hurt. Chapman began to experience mechanical problems shortly after taking off from Galt Airport. The single-engine plane hit a power line while trying to return to the airport. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash.

Larkin Center sale today:

The Larkin Center has rescheduled its 6th annual Community Yard Sale because of bad weather. You can now stop by from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at 1212 Larkin Ave. in Elgin. Proceeds from the yard sale will help fund recreational activities for teens and adults enrolled in Larkin's transitional program for the mentally ill.

Elgin reviews park plans:

Elgin Residents are invited to a planning meeting on the development of a park in Copper Springs subdivision. The discussion will be held during the Elgin Parks and Recreation Advisory Board's regular meeting at 7 p.m. today in the west conference room of The Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way. This is the first in a series of meetings on the park site.

The 16th Judicial Circuit has launched a Web site to guide people through using courts in Kane, Kendall and DeKalb counties. The site explains court house locations, court holidays, where to find court files, judge assignments, a phone directory of court personnel and a primer on the state court system. The site also offers Web links to state and local organizations offering legal aid. The Web site can be accessed through www.illinois16thjudicialcircuit.org or via the law and public safety link on the Kane County home page, www.countyofkane.org.
