Yard sale rescheduled:
The Larkin Center has rescheduled its 6th annual Community Yard Sale because of bad weather. You can now stop by from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at 1212 Larkin Avenue in Elgin. You can also donate small household items, kitchenware, furniture, sporting goods, bikes and knickknacks to the sale up until Sunday morning. Proceeds from the yard sale will help fund recreational activities for teens and adults enrolled in Larkin's transitional program for the mentally ill.
Work closes parking deck:
Parking at Riverside Drive in Elgin will be closed beginning Monday for utility work. The work is expected to take three weeks. Parking is available at the Spring Street Parking Deck at Chicago and Spring Streets, in the Fulton Street Parking Deck one block east of Spring Street, and in the Civic Center lot, 150 Dexter Court.
Campton brush pickup:
Campton Township brush pickup will be Monday through Friday for residents north of Route 64, and Aug. 6-10 for residents south of Route 64. The maximum accepted diameter for tree limbs is 18 inches. Maximum length is 8 feet. Brush must be piled neatly, with cut ends facing the road. Small twigs should be tied together. Visit www.camptontownship.com or call (630) 365-9300.
