Cabot reports record quarter

AURORA -- Cabot Microelectronics Corp., a supplier of chemical mechanical planarization polishing slurries, Wednesday reported results for its third quarter, ended June 30, at a record $89.0 million, 15.6 percent higher than the prior quarter's revenue of $77 million. Gross profit for the June quarter was $42.5 million, compared with $33.8 million reported in the prior quarter and $40.4 million in the same quarter a year ago. Year to date, gross profit represents 46.6 percent of revenue, consistent with the company's guidance range.

Calamos reports quarterly results

NAPERVILLE -- Calamos Asset Management Inc. reported second quarter net income of $3.8 million, compared to $8.1 million, or 34 cents per diluted share, for the same quarter last year. Net income was reduced by 16 cents per diluted share due to expense associated with the termination of two closed-end fund compensation agreements and structuring fees related to the initial public offering of Calamos Global Dynamic Income Fund.
