Possible food tax debated
Possible food tax debated:
The village of Buffalo Grove's finance committee on Monday discussed possibly implementing a food and beverage tax of 1 percent. Village manager Bill Brimm said that would bring in an additional $465,000 in revenue based on the 2005 and 2006 sales of food and beverage. Brimm said the tax would apply to all restaurants and even some portions of grocery stores, such as salad bars, that are intended for immediate consumption. "I think we have to look at it," village trustee Jeff Braiman said. The idea will come back up in front of the village board for further discussion after it has been researched by the village staff.
