Minee Subee hosts fun fest July 27

Minee Subee Early Education and Childcare Center will host its annual fun festival from 5:30 to 8 p.m. July 27 at 3523 N. Kennicott, Arlington Heights.

A special 6:30 p.m. performance will feature children's stand-up comedian and storyteller Dot Kane. The $7 admission includes the show; children under 1 year old and adults are free.

Other activities include face painting, moon jump and a variety of children's games. An assortment of edible treats will be available. For details, call (847) 398-7004.

Classic car show at Moorings Sunday

The Moorings of Arlington Heights will host its Fourth Annual Classic Car Show from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, at 811 E. Central Road, Arlington Heights. The public is invited and admission is free.

The Stallion's Gate Mustang & Ford Club will exhibit Mustangs from every era. The Chicagoland Replicar Association will also participate.

Entertainment will be provided by Monster Boombox, A DJ will play music from the 1940s to the present.

Culver's of Mt. Prospect will offer frozen custard, hamburgers, hot dogs and soda for purchase. The Moorings will provide free bottled water and granola bar snacks. For information, call (847) 956-4095.

Vietnam war show screening at library

A free screening of the documentary "Sir! No, Sir!" about the Vietnam War GI resistance movement will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, Hendrickson Room, 500 N. Dunton Ave., Arlington Heights. This event is offered by the Green Party of Arlington Heights. Refreshments will be available. Call (847) 392-0100.

Seniors will share Peace Corps info

Larry and Tem Williams, ages 60 and 56, will share their experiences as older Peace Corps volunteers from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, 500 N. Dunton. The couple served in Jamaica for two years.

Their talk is part of a Peace Corps public information presentation featuring returned volunteer stories, with information for those age 50 and older.

Rich Johnson, Ph.D., associate professor and co-chair of the Harper College English Department, will talk about his two-year Peace Corps experience during the 1980s in Burkina Faso, West Africa.

Peace Corps Regional Recruiters Katie O'Connor and Ken Surdin will offer information about the application process and benefits of Peace Corps service.
