Ehlenfeldt daughter's statement regarding guilty verdict in Brown's case

Jennifer Shilling, the oldest daughter of Richard and Lynn Ehlenfeldt and a Wisconsin state representative, issued a statement in behalf of the Ehlenfeldt family following the guilty verdict of Brown's Chicken murder suspect Juan Luna:

My family and I have waited days, weeks, months, and years and now the long, agonizing wait is over.

"This is not a day for celebration. Regardless of the verdict, 14 years ago seven people -including my Mother and Father - lost their lives in a violent and senseless night of terror. For me and my family it has left a deep scar on our lives from which we will never completely recover.

"My family and I have held our breath for many years as the investigation unfolded. With Juan Luna being found guilty we can finally exhale from this long and emotional nightmare. The verdict is in, and Juan Luna must now live with the consequences of this brutal and incomprehensible crime.

"We must now work on healing from this trial. Four weeks of gruesome testimony have answered many questions; yet many questions have arisen for which we will never have answers. The journey for justice continues.

"Together with continued support from our families, we will prepare for the trial of James Degorski, where we will face many of the same horrific and brutal images again.

"I am grateful for the many cards, kind words, and prayers from so many people in our community. The kindness of friends and colleagues has meant a great deal, and has provided comfort during this difficult time. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and expressions of consolation."
