Here is a schedule of Plant a Row for the Hungry workshops at the Morton Arboretum:

May 8: One Pot Gardening

Vegetables in a Pot, Mayo Underwood of Underwood Gardens. You can have fresh tomatoes, scarlet runner beans, eggplants, sweet peppers and more on your balcony, patio or deck with the right choice of plants. Underwood will point out varieties that thrive in containers. Seeds and plants will be available for sale. Soil provided. Registration required. Participants must bring their own 6-inch pots. Sessions are 9 to 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Members $9, nonmembers $11.

Herbs in a Pot, Jill Yeck of Harvest Moon Herb Farm. Some herbs, such as mint or chives, should always be confined to a pot while others do not thrive in planters. Learn which herbs work best in small spaces. Plants will be available for sale. Soil provided. Registration required. Participants must bring their own 6-inch pots. Session runs 10:30 a.m. to noon. Members $9, nonmembers $11.

Compost in a Pot, Lynn Bement, the Organic Garden Coach. Vermiculture, or composting with worms, makes it possible to compost year-round. Learn the simple steps to setting up a worm bin and creating nutrient-rich amendments for your soil. Bement will discuss the various systems available and demonstrate how to assemble a home bin. Registration required. Session runs 1 to 2:30 p.m. Members $9, nonmembers $11.

Rosemary Topiary, Jill Yeck of Harvest Moon Herb Farm. Rosemary is not only flavorful, it is also a beautiful plant that can be trained into any number of shapes. Yeck will demonstrate how to prune a plant into a topiary and offer tips for growing rosemary all year long. Plants will be available for sale. Registration required. Session is 2:30 to 4 p.m. Members $9, nonmembers $11.

Ready, Set, Let's Grow. Learn how to plant an ornamental container garden during this free lecture at 1 p.m. in the Thornhill Auditorium. No registration required.

May 9: From Garden to Table

Living Herb Wreath, Jan Little, manager of horticulture education at the Morton Arboretum. Create a wreath of living herb plants. Little will work with you to plant a wreath with a variety of herbs that will scent your garden and flavor your cooking. Registration required. All materials supplied. Session runs 9 to 11:30 a.m. Members $47, nonmembers $57.

Garden Beginnings, Vicki Nowicki of the Land Office. Learn how to broadcast seed, interplant, trench plant and succession plant. This workshop is all about starting the season right. Registration required. Session is 10 to 11:30 a.m. Members $9, nonmembers $11.

Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme, Marcy Lautanen-Raleigh of the Backyard Patch. Learn how to plant a variety of herbs, including basil, dill, fennel and oregano, in a display container. Workshop also includes maintenance tasks and herbal recipes. Registration required. Session runs 10 a.m. to noon. Members $9, nonmembers $11.

Tisanes, Teas and Toasts, Marcy Lautanen-Raleigh of the Backyard Patch. Relax with some herbal beverages and tea sandwiches as you learn the difference between teas and tisanes. You'll leave with recipes for dips, salad dressings, teas and sandwiches. Registration required. Session runs 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Members $14, nonmembers $18.
