• Lynn Ehlenfeldt and Marcus Nellsen were found in one walk-in cooler, the other victims were found in another cooler.

• Marcus Nellsen and Lynn Ehlenfeldt were each shot once in the head. Lynn Ehlenfeldt also was stabbed in the throat. The other five victims were each shot multiple times.

The Evidence

• It appears the cash registers were empty. The safe was locked, but it is unknown whether it never was opened, or if the killers locked it after they left. Money was found on some victims.

• The restaurant had been cleaned up of blood, but a bloodied broom was propped up against a wall.

The Investigation

• Police have no one in custody.

• Police believe there was more than one killer and more than one weapon.

• Multiple shots were fired, all from .38 caliber revolvers. A gun found in Martin Blake's house during the police search was not a .38 caliber.

• Palatine police are checking into unsolved crimes with similarities, like a rash of armed robberies of restaurants and grocery stores police think may have been committed by a group of four men; also, the attempted murder of a gas station attendant in Addison in November, who was shot six times, but survived. Two men are being sought there.
