    Hoffman Estates’ costs and revenues are expected to rise next year, but its property tax levy likely won’t be a penny more than the $17.9 million sought last year. “I’m very proud to say the proposed budget for 2015 has a 0 percent increase in the property tax,” Hoffman Estates Village Manager Jim Norris said at a budget workshop for the village board’s finance committee Monday.

    A 12-year-old girl has been missing since Saturday night and the Cook County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in finding her. Jordan Sumlin was last seen by her parents at approximately 8:10 p.m. on Saturday on the 5200 block of Shotkoski Drive in an unincorporated area near Hoffman Estates, according to a news release Sunday night.

  • Rolling Meadows courthouse engineer a friend to all Nov 21, 2014 8:21 PM
    James Patrick Sheehan was a fixture around the Third Municipal District Courthouse in Rolling Meadows, who helped with everything from aiding visitors in finding their way inside the building, to managing the physical plant. Sheehan, chief engineer of the courthouse since its construction, a former Democratic committeeman in Palatine Township and a member of the Democratic State Central Committee, died Tuesday at age 73. “Jim was a pillar of the Palatine, Hoffman Estates and Rolling Meadows area, and throughout the Northwest suburban area,” said Cary Collins, a former Hoffman Estates trustee.

  • Route 59 crash in Hoffman Estates sends one to hospital Nov 18, 2014 1:34 PM
    Hoffman Estates police have reopened Route 59 at Golf Road after a multivehicle crash this morning, authorities said. One person was injured and taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates for treatment.
