Booths available at Northwest Fourth Fest business expo May 20, 2013 12:00 AM
Businesses interested in highlighting their products and services at this year's Northwest Fourth Fest in Hoffman Estates can now purchase a booth. Booths are available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, and Sunday, July 7, inside the Sears Centre Arena, 5333 Prairie Stone Parkway.

Elgin will likely participate once again in the Fourth of July fireworks show in Hoffman Estates, but will also start looking at possibly bringing back the fireworks to town next year. The first Northwest Fourth Fest — a collaboration among Hoffman Estates, Elgin, Hanover Park, and Hanover Township — was held last year at Prairie Stone Business Park, where the Sears Centre Arena is located.

Northwest Fourth Fest might charge cover for one night of musicApr 15, 2013 12:00 AM
Attendees at this year's Northwest Fourth Fest might have to pay for a ticket if they want to see two bands perform live on July 5 in Hoffman Estates. Guests could be charged $10 to enter the fenced-off Village Green across the street from the Sears Centre arena, where rock band 7th Heaven and a yet-to-be-determined musical act will be playing.

Bartlett voters for a second time have rejected a plan for the village to solicit bids from electricity suppliers other than ComEd to potentially save residents and small businesses on their power bills. With all 37 precincts reporting in Cook, Kane and DuPage counties — Kane County precinct results were added early Wednesday morning — only 1,674 Bartlett voters backed electric aggregation Tuesday night, and 4,178 opposed it, according to unofficial totals.

After voting it down a year ago, Bartlett residents for the second time rejected a plan for the village to solicit bids from electricity suppliers other than ComEd. The Elgin chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America has gifted 11 acres along Poplar Creek to Hanover Township with the promise of furthering its conservation efforts. "This is a tremendous gift by the Izaak Walton League to the residents of Hanover Township, not just now, but for future generations," Supervisor Brian McGuire said.

Hoffman Estates approves fireworks contract Feb 18, 2013 12:00 AM
After discussion at three meetings, the Hoffman Estates village board decided to let Melrose Pyrotechnics shoot off the fireworks again at this year's Northwest Fourth Fest despite criticism of the quality of last year's show. Trustee Ray Kincaid, the only "no" vote, said he felt that the board wasn't comparing "apples to apples."
