    The trial for a Mundelein man charged with killing a Round Lake Beach mother during a traffic crash last Thanksgiving has been delayed again. Mark Oelerich, 22, was scheduled to go to trial Jan. 10, but the trial was pushed back after defense attorney Elliot Pinsel requested more time for a court-appointed psychiatrist to interview Oelerich.

    A townhouse building in Hainesville burned for about three hours Friday morning, bursting into flames when a car crashed into the building and struck its gas line, authorities said. “That’s what woke us up,” said Ryan Crothers, who lives with his wife and three children in a neighboring unit. He said he looked outside and saw flames around the side of the building. “We grabbed our three young kids and got out of there as soon as possible,” he said.

    Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District Capt. John Whitten remains on an unpaid leave of absence pending a disciplinary hearing before the board of trustees. Fire Chief Paul Maplethorpe said a hearing on the matter had been set for Friday, but it won't occur as scheduled.

    Mundelein man charged following November jailhouse attack Apr 2, 2013 12:00 AM
    A Mundelein man who is in the Lake County jail while facing first-degree murder charges, pleaded not guilty Tuesday to also attacking guards the night of his November arrest. Mark Oelerich, 22, is charged with 10 counts of aggravated battery to a correction officer and three counts of resisting arrest during his arraignment on those charges in front of Lake County Judge James K. Booras.

    A body found Tuesday morning in Round Lake Park near Campbell Airport has been identified as a 20-year-old Grayslake man who had not been seen since he left a party early Sunday. Round Lake Park Police Chief George Filenko said the body of Joseph Frase was found about 10:35 a.m. by volunteers searching the area near the airport . “The cause of death is undetermined pending an autopsy, which is scheduled for tomorrow,” Filenko said.

    A Mundelein man who told police he drove into oncoming traffic to "test his mortality" was indicted on first-degree murder charges for killing a 25-year-old Round Lake Beach mother. The indictment handed down by a Lake County grand jury Wednesday against 22-year-old Mark Oelerich was for intentionally driving into oncoming traffic while heading north on Cedar Lake Road at 9:17 p.m. on Thanksgiving eve, authorities said.

    A Mundelein man faces alcohol-related charges in a crash that killed a 24-year-old Round Lake Beach woman last week, authorities said Tuesday. Mark Oelerich, 22, of the 100 block of Sylvan Road, has been charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol that resulted in death. He remains in Lake County jail on $1 million bond following his arrest Saturday, authorities said.
