A Mundelein man who is in the Lake County jail while facing first-degree murder charges, pleaded not guilty Tuesday to also attacking guards the night of his November arrest. Mark Oelerich, 22, is charged with 10 counts of aggravated battery to a correction officer and three counts of resisting arrest during his arraignment on those charges in front of Lake County Judge James K. Booras.

A body found Tuesday morning in Round Lake Park near Campbell Airport has been identified as a 20-year-old Grayslake man who had not been seen since he left a party early Sunday. Round Lake Park Police Chief George Filenko said the body of Joseph Frase was found about 10:35 a.m. by volunteers searching the area near the airport . “The cause of death is undetermined pending an autopsy, which is scheduled for tomorrow,” Filenko said.

A Mundelein man who told police he drove into oncoming traffic to "test his mortality" was indicted on first-degree murder charges for killing a 25-year-old Round Lake Beach mother. The indictment handed down by a Lake County grand jury Wednesday against 22-year-old Mark Oelerich was for intentionally driving into oncoming traffic while heading north on Cedar Lake Road at 9:17 p.m. on Thanksgiving eve, authorities said.

A Mundelein man faces alcohol-related charges in a crash that killed a 24-year-old Round Lake Beach woman last week, authorities said Tuesday. Mark Oelerich, 22, of the 100 block of Sylvan Road, has been charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol that resulted in death. He remains in Lake County jail on $1 million bond following his arrest Saturday, authorities said.
