But incumbent Jennifer Laesch has been absent from several meeting during the past few months and has not responded to multiple interview requests about her status. That leaves challenger Don Ishmael as the lone voice in the race.

    A planned question-and-answer session with the two Republican candidates for Lake County treasurer changed locations and formats Tuesday night. GOP hopefuls Jeri Atleson and David Stolman were supposed to speak with potential voters at the local party office in Libertyville. Shortly before the event was set to begin, however, the location shifted to the Fuel Room at Austin’s Saloon & Steakhouse, a restaurant just down the street.

    DuPage County Sheriff John Zaruba will have to campaign to earn re-election now that a county electoral board decision keeps his Democratic opponent in the race. An effort was made to remove Mike Quiroz, who is a retired DuPage sheriff’s deputy, from the March 18 primary ballot before he could face Zaruba during next fall’s general election. But the county electoral board has decided to keep Quiroz on the ballot.

    Error costs DuPage forest candidate a ballot spot Dec 23, 2013 12:00 AM
    A DuPage County Forest Preserve Commission candidate won’t have his name appear on the primary election ballot because of a mistake he didn’t commit. Joseph C. Wozniak of Naperville gathered enough signatures to enter the Republican primary against forest preserve Commissioner Linda Painter of Hinsdale. But because Wozniak’s nomination petition was notarized by a notary who didn’t have the proper certification to do the work, the entire 31-page document has been deemed invalid on Monday by the county electoral board.

The Naperville Republican just never expected it would include being handcuffed. During the meeting, someone in the room mistook the cellphone Wozniak wears on his belt for a concealed weapon. When Wozniak left, officials called campus security.
