    I bought a dog bed once. My rescue German shepherd sometimes slept on the wooden floor for part of the night. I think because it was cooler for her. But for awhile she seemed to get more restless during the night, getting up and walking around to sleep in different rooms of the house.

    The suburban Chicago housing market ended 2014 on a positive note: the number of homes that went under contract in December 2014 increased 19.4 percent over the same period last year, the largest year-over-year increase to date. Home prices also continued to grow, with the median sales price of detached homes up 8.8 percent compared with 2013, according to statistics released today by the Mainstreet Organization of REALTORS.

    The old Arlington Heights police station can be torn down, and an updated, functional station can be built in its place, officials learned Tuesday night. Arlington Heights trustees got their first look at a possible new police station during Tuesday’s meeting and said they were happy with study results that show a new station can be built on the existing municipal campus. “I like what I see so far,” said Mayor Tom Hayes.

    Two men who saie they were raising money for their church stole $60 around 3 p.m. Jan. 13 out of a 2001 Nissan Altima in a garage at a home in Hoffman Estates. According to the male victim, the men rang his doorbell and told him they would shovel his driveway for a $10 donation to their church. They shoveled a small portion of the driveway. The victim went to his car and got money to pay them. One of the men distracted him while the second man apparently stole money out of the victim’s car.
