Elgin's St. Hugh of Lincoln Church to offer 'Drive Thru Ashes' Feb. 26

On Ash Wednesday, Feb. 26, busy commuters can begin their Lenten journey by driving through the parking lot of St. Hugh of Lincoln Episcopal Church, off the southeast corner of Highland Avenue and Randall Road in Elgin.

From 4:30 and 6 p.m., the Rev. Marion Phipps will greet each driver and passenger, offer ashes and a blessing, and remind them of the power of prayer, repentance, renewal and God's grace in their lives.

St. Hugh offers two Sunday services: one at 8 a.m. that follows the traditional Rite I service in the prayer book; and the other at 10:30 a.m. using the more modern Rite II service and includes music. Eucharist Holy Communion is celebrated at both services.

The 10:30 a.m. service includes Sunday school activities during the school year or nursery during worship. Immediately after the 10:30 a.m. service, join the coffee hour in the fellowship hall.
