Fremont Public Library Hosts Cultural Council Artists

From watercolor paintings to wood reliefs, six artists participating in the Northwest Cultural Council's Corporate Gallery Program are exhibiting their work through Saturday, Oct. 6 at Fremont Public Library, 1170 N. Midlothian Rd. in Mundelein.

"Many of the pieces celebrate our spring and summer months," says Kathy Umlauf, NWCC Executive Director. "It's a bright and cheerful show, and very thought-provoking as all our art shows strive for. The arts lead us all to think creatively," Umlauf adds.

Lynnea Semasko of Arlington Heights is exhibiting her watercolor paintings. "Some of my work is whimsical, and I use vibrant, happy colors that attract observers and draw them in, such as with my paintings of flowers and boots in rain puddles," Semasko explains.

Other participants are: John Green of Buffalo Grove with pencil and ink drawings; Dean Caminiti of Palatine with wood reliefs; Moon Ja Park of Mount Prospect with watercolors; Michael Stone of Arlington Heights with digital art; and Charlotte Digregorio of Winnetka with haiku poems penned with calligraphy and Japanese-style black ink and brush stroke paintings.

The NWCC, serving the Northwest corridor, is a non-profit organization. It supports and promotes the work of area visual artists and poets, offering a variety of programs including corporate gallery exhibitions, co-sponsored by businesses, convention and visitors' bureaus, libraries, and hospitals; art competitions to stimulate and promote artists; and poetry workshops and readings.

Questions about the exhibits or businesses and organizations with gallery space to feature artists are invited to contact the NWCC at 847-382-6922.
