Golden Corral celebrates Military Appreciation Night on Veterans Day

Over the past 16 years, The Golden Corral honors veterans and active military members with a free Veterans Day meal. Since 2001, they have provided the free buffet to more than 5 million people and raised over $13 million for Disabled American Veterans.

The American family-style restaurant chain Golden Corral Corp. was founded in 1973. The company has more than 500 restaurants in 41 states. Golden Corral restaurants nationwide have long been strong supporters of the U.S. military and Disabled American Veterans organization.

On Monday, Nov. 13, from 5 to 9 p.m., Golden Corral hosted active duty troops and military veterans at its restaurant and served a free meal in honor of their service and sacrifices for our great nation. Any person who is or has served in a United States military branch, including the National Guard and Reserves, are welcome to enjoy a free meal.

Golden Corral, located in the Algonquin Galleria off Randall Road, hosted the 10th annual event. It is the 17th annual event nationwide welcoming America's heroes to gather at its restaurants to share experiences, networking, create new friendships, and enjoy a complimentary hearty meal. Several hundred veterans enjoyed a free meal, according to the Golden Corral manager.

One of the Golden Corral managers, Jen Vasquez, received an honorary plaque from Disabled American Veterans surrounded by military guests.

Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White and prominent Asian community member Sadruddin Noorani, Trisila Davidge and many others also attended the event. White particularly thanked the Golden Corral for supporting and recognizing all our brave veterans who have sacrificed so much to keep the nation safe.
