Learn about Medical Reserve Corps at Oct. 31 Kiwanis meeting

Topical programs are fixtures of the weekly meetings of the Kiwanis Club of Elgin.

On Oct. 31, Stacy Zeng of the Kane County Health Department will be discussing its new endeavor, the Medical Reserve Corps, a national network of local volunteers committed to improving the health, safety, and resiliency of their communities.

Volunteers include medical and public health professionals and others interested in strengthening the public health infrastructure and improving the preparedness and response capabilities of their local jurisdiction. More information about the Medical Reserve Corps is available by visiting mrc.hhs.gov/HomePage and kanehealth.com/medical_reserves.htm.

The Kiwanis Club of Elgin, now in its 98th year, received its charter March 9, 1920, and serves the Kiwanis International mission, to change the world one child at a time, one community at a time. In that time, the Elgin Noon Club donated more than $1 million to organizations in Elgin and South Elgin.

Anyone interested in joining the club is invited to attend a weekly lunch meeting held at noon Tuesdays at The Grumpy Goat Tavern, 875 Sports Way, Elgin, at the Highlands golf course. For information, call Karen Maki at (847) 695-7589.
