'Death Comes to the Tanner House' is a poisonous affair

Some of the darkest corners of Victorian society will be illuminated at the Tanner House Museum this Halloween during the dramatized tours, "A Drop of Poison: What the Victorians Knew - Or Didn't."

Far from the sweeping skirts, straw boaters and lighthearted croquet games seen at the Aurora Historical Society on the Fourth of July, visitors will encounter men and women caught in the snares of weakness and trouble in 1895.

Places must be reserved in advance. You can schedule your visit for 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. Friday-Sunday, Oct. 27-29.

Tickets are $15 per person and $12 for members. Tickets can be purchased online at www.aurorahistory.net or by calling (630) 906-0650. Visitors must be age 14 or older.

The Tanner House Museum is at 304 Oak Ave., the corner of Oak and Cedar Street.
