Reporting Campus Ministries: Aurora woman tills campuses as mission fields

Aurora University and Waubonsee Community College campuses are mission fields for Aurora resident Anne Miller.

She detailed campus ministries she directs at AU and WCC during a visit to Fourth Street United Methodist Church in Aurora on Sept. 17.

A 2012 AU graduate, Miller leads Intervarsity Christian Fellowship chapters at AU in Aurora and WCC in Sugar Grove.

According to Miller, about 40 AU students participate in activities. Her responsibilities include organizing outreach events, training students to lead Bible studies, sharing gospel readings and fundraising to support her position.

She said she has received a $5,000 matching grant from an unspecified donor to aid her fundraising efforts. Donations will be matched dollar for dollar up to $5,000 through June 30. To donate, visit donate.intervarsity.org/donate#15708.

The Rev. Deborah Tinsley Taylor, Fourth Street UMC pastor, said the church is taking donations for Miller during September.

Miller said, "Students at Aurora University and Waubonsee Community College are searching for meaning and purpose.

"Our vision is to bring the students at AU and WCC together with Christ as the foundation; to give them a vision of something bigger than themselves and to help them find their place in God's kingdom."
