Gail Borden Library to host Hispanic Heritage Month events

Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Ave. in Elgin, is hosting a variety of activities during Hispanic Heritage Month. Visit www.gailborden.info.

• Stop by Healthy Families Fun Fair and learn about healthy eating and exercise from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, in the Meadows Community Room. Children who complete their "passport to health" will receive a gift! It is presented by Advocate Sherman Hospital and community partners.

• Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with the eighth annual celebration "Nuestra Casa, Our Community" from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7. Stop by the warm and welcoming "casa" where you can celebrate Latino culture and traditions new and old. Enjoy "cuentos" or stories in the kids' room, crafts in the family room, musica in the den and more. All are bienvenidos!

• Celebrate Day of the Dead Mini-Fest with crafts, stories, face-painting, traditional sweet bread and more from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, in the Meadows Community Room.
