Algonquin library to host blood drive Wednesday

The Algonquin Area Public Library District will host a blood drive at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, at the Harnish Main Library, 2600 Harnish Drive, west of Randall Road.

Heartland Blood Centers' mobile coach will be parked in the library's parking lot.

The library hosts blood drives throughout the year in support of patients in its community and beyond. Since 1943, Heartland Blood Centers has been serving hospitals in a 12-county area including in Illinois and Indiana. They operate under a volunteer donor system, with a goal of collecting more than 160,000 units of blood annually.

Schedule your appointment today at www.heartlandbc.org. Appointments are strongly advised, but walk-ins will be accommodated; a photo ID is required.

As a blood donor, you can help sustain lives all over the country, and your donation has the potential to save up to three lives. The process of donating blood is very simple and only takes about 45 minutes. As a bonus, donors receive a Target gift card.

If you need help scheduling your appointment, call Theresa Therens, Algonquin Area Public Library District blood drive chairwoman, at (847) 458-3133.

For questions about donating blood, contact Heartland representative Carrie Futchko at (815) 271-2910.
