Former Teacher Returns As New Principal at Woodland Elementary West School

A former Woodland District 50 teacher is returning to be principal of the Elementary West School, following approval June 27 by the Board of Education.

Ryan Wollberg spent 10 years as a sixth grade social studies teacher at Woodland District 50 and upon completing his master's degree in school leadership from Concordia University, he was hired as the Assistant Principal at Emmons Elementary School District 33 near Antioch. In his second year there, he was promoted to be Assessment Coordinator as well as Assistant Principal.

"I am grateful and excited to return to the Woodland community as the principal at Elementary West. I know the strong commitment staff, families and community members have for our students' education and I am honored to once again be part of this partnership. Together, we will continue to do amazing things for our students at Elementary West," he said.

Woodland Superintendent Dr. Joy A. Swoboda said, "Ryan has been a key instructional leader at Emmons and we are happy to have him return to Woodland. His passion for the children and academic excellence is evident."

A native of Mundelein, he attended Western Illinois University for his undergraduate degree and received a master's in education from National Louis University. He also did his student teaching at Woodland. Ryan and his wife, Margaret, live with their 4-year-old son, Hunter in Wauconda. When he is not working, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his family.
