COD, faculty reach tentative contract deal
Negotiating teams for the College of DuPage and the school's faculty association have reached a tentative contract agreement — just days before a contract imposed by COD's board of trustees was set to take effect. The deal was struck just after midnight Saturday — the result of bargaining sessions on Thursday and Friday that lasted a combined 25 hours, said Faculty Association President Glenn Hansen.

Addison police investigating possible dog shooting
Updated May 23, 2012 6:00 PMAddison police are investigating the death of a Yorkshire terrier that was shot while it was being walked near a forest preserve. The woman, whom police would not identify, was walking her dog about 10:30 a.m. Saturday on Fullerton Avenue, east of Villa Avenue, when she heard a faint "pop," Deputy Chief Mike Simo said.

- Thirteen members of the Choral-Aires Chorus recently showed support for chorus members, families and friends battling breast cancer by participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Lombard. The chorus, based in Elmhurst, led all other community teams in fundraising efforts, raising more than $3,000 to fight breast cancer. Lindsey Herza

Boyce brought scouting to America, the guiding principles of the Boy Scouts of America has remained the same; preparing young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
