St. Charles man faces more armed robbery charges, bail increased
A St. Charles man arrested on charges of a Feb. 14 knife point robbery of an Elgin gas station has been charged with more armed robberies in February - one in South Elgin and two in St. Charles, according to Kane County court records.
Ronald L. Medlin Jr., 46, of the 6N800 block of Thompson Avenue, was initially arrested Feb. 14 on charges he took $400 from a gas station in Elgin, and his bail was set at $500,000.
Medlin was charged this week with of stealing $73.57 from a South Elgin business Feb. 6. He also has been charged with two knife point robberies Feb. 13 in St. Charles.
The first occurred at 3:20 a.m. in which Medlin is accused of stealing $224 from a 7-11 at 2400 E. Main St. The second was at about 7 p.m. at the Clark gas station, 1023 W. Main St., where Medlin is accused of stealing $157 and two packs of cigarettes.
All of the cases are felonies that carry a six- to 30-year prison term without the chance of probation, meaning Medlin faces a minimum of 24 years in prison if convicted in all four cases.
Medlin appeared briefly in court Friday and is next due in court March 10.
He is now being held on $1.15 million bail.
