Waubonsee sophomore earns scholarship for community service

A Waubonsee Community College sophomore was recently selected as the state recipient for a National Society of Leadership and Success State of Mind Scholarship, which recognizes her work in the community.

Victoria Del Rio received the $1,000 scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to one member from every state who, within the previous academic year, initiated a program or event or participated in a significant project or campaign that positively impacted their community.

The Aurora woman was recognized for her work as a youth minister with Ministerios Adonai in Aurora, where she has planned conferences and served as a speaker.

The National Society of Leadership and Success has 687,509 membership nationwide, and students are selected for membership based on academic standing or leadership potential. In addition to the distinction of membership, students are also offered guidance on building their leadership skills.
