Battlefield expert to offer 'Pearl Harbor: A Day of Infamy' Dec. 6

Gail Borden Public Library will present "Pearl Harbor - A Day of Infamy" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, in the Elgin Room at the library, 270 N. Grove Ave. in Elgin. Register at gailborden.info.

It was a day that our parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles would never forget. It was a day that would live in infamy forever more - Dec. 7, 1941.

Battlefield expert Robert Mueller reviews the why and how the Japanese almost wiped out the American Pacific Fleet in one fell swoop.

Using individual stories of the men who responded to the attack, Mueller presents the tactics and the consequences of the most treacherous assault ever launched upon American soil.

The program ends with a review of the surviving relics and, appropriately, a visit to National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.

Mueller, owner of French Battlefields, is the author of the recent book "The Bulge Battlefields," as well as "Fields of War: Battle of Normandy," "Fields of War: Fifty Key Battlefields in France and Belgium."
