EYSO ensembles to perform Dec. 11 at St. Charles library

Enjoy a favorite annual tradition as the St. Charles Public Library's Sunday Concert Series will host the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra's Maud Powell String Quartet and the Earl Clemens Wind Quintet Sunday, Dec. 11. The concert will begin at 2 p.m. in the Carnegie Community Room, 1 S. Sixth Ave.

Members of both ensembles are part of the EYSO Chamber Music Institute, where the students are selected by competitive audition.

Founded in 1976, the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra is the oldest and largest youth orchestra program in northwest Illinois and is composed of eight large chamber ensembles and nearly 30 chamber ensembles.

Directed by nationally recognized leaders in music education, EYSO ensembles have performed at the Aberdeen International Youth Festival, the Ravinia Festival, the Illinois State Capitol, and on 98.7 WFMT, Chicago's classical music radio.
