Judson University Choir prepares for fall performance tour

The Judson University Choir is preparing to embark on a five-city, two-state outreach as part of its annual fall performance tour itinerary. The tour will run from Thursday-Sunday, Nov. 3-6, and will include more than 40 student singers and musicians who will travel to churches across Ohio and Illinois.

"I am very excited to take the Judson University Choir on tour this fall," said University Choir Director Dr. Warren J. Anderson, who will lead the tour group. "It was at my home church in Cincinnati, Ohio, then known as Ninth Street Baptist Church, that I first encountered performance ministries from Judson, groups like the Good News Circle, Turning Point and the Judson University Handbell Choir.

"It's because of those groups that I decided to come to Judson, so to be able to bring the choir to my home church will have special significance for me. And then to spend the majority of the rest of the tour in Illinois, having the chance to interact with a host of alums and friends of Judson, is going to be great. We are really looking forward to the ministry!"

The tour begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, with a concert stop to Immanuel at Lakewood Baptist Church, 4008 Westwood-Northern Blvd. in Cincinnati, Ohio. This is the home church for Choir Director Anderson and where former Judson Trustee Dr. Art Farrell once served as an interim pastor.

At 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, the choir will travel to Normal, and sing at Heartland Community Church, 1811 N. Linden St., where Judson alumnus Ray Graham, Class of 1993, serves as youth pastor. This is also the home church for current Judson Worship Arts student Ben Kafer.

Then, Saturday, Nov. 5, it's on to Lexington, Ill. The choir group will sing at Lexington Community Church, 805 S. Pine St., home church of current Worship Arts student Kevin Myers and alumnus Dave Myers, Class of 1986.

On Sunday, Nov. 6, the choir will perform at two venues before returning to the Judson campus. At 10:15 a.m., choir members visit Eureka and sing at Eureka Bible Church, 1452 Church Road.

The choir will wrap up its fall tour by leading a time of music and worship at Faith Community Church, 400 N. Walnut St., Itasca, where Judson adjunct professor Darryl Jenkins is pastor. The performance time is 6 p.m.
