Enjoy Shakespeare's comedy 'Two Gentlemen of Verona' at Island Park July 16

Join the Midsummer Theatre Troupe for "Two Gentlemen of Verona," one of Shakespeare's first comedy plays, at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 16, in Island Park, 2 E. State St. in Geneva. Admission is free to this family-friendly event. Seating begins at 5 p.m.

The plot revolves around friends Valentine and Proteus who travel to Milan and learn about the world of courtship, but love for the same woman, Sylvia, comes between them, while Julia is in love with Proteus. Under the ploy of disguises, true love prevails and the friends are reconciled and look to share "one mutual happiness."

The Midsummer Theatre Troupe will perform this romantic comedy with their trademark flair and puns. Bring a picnic or buy food from Stockholm's and Graham's Chocolates. Seating is Ravinia-style; bring blankets and chair. Preshow activities for kids will be offered by Geneva Public Library District and School of Art Geneva.

The play runs 90 minutes without intermission and is suitable for the entire family. For information, visit www.genevarts.org or www.facebook.com/GenevaShakespeareInThePark.
