Cary Physical Therapy teaches osteoporosis workshop to fellow professionals

CARY, Ill. - Deb Gulbrandson, owner of The Midwest Center for Osteoporosis at Cary Physical Therapy and physical therapist Jennifer Schaffer hosted and taught a workshop called "Osteoporosis: A Comprehensive Treatment Strategy." This two-day workshop focused on a comprehensive program for management of patients with osteoporosis, osteopenia and postural problems. Physical and occupational therapists, physical therapist assistants, and athletic trainers - a total of 20 participants from around the country were in attendance.

While exercise is extremely important in managing/reducing the effects of osteoporosis, it is even more important to do the correct exercises. Certain exercises have been shown to dramatically increase the possibility of compression fractures in the Osteoporosis population.
