W. Dundee church to hold Hilltop Community Supper Oct. 13

First Congregational Church of Dundee is hosting Hilltop Community Suppers, an outreach effort that offers a free monthly meal served restaurant-style on the second Tuesday of each month.

The suppers are open to community members in need of a warm, home-cooked meal and a social experience - veterans, active duty military families, food pantry patrons, homeless individuals, seniors and single parents.

The first free supper will offered from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, in the narthex of the church, which can hold about 130 people.

Every dinner will include a salad, a main course, a dessert and drinks. The suppers will be run entirely by volunteers; more than 60 members of the church have signed up to cook, clean and serve and students in Dundee Middle School's Beta Club, Carpentersville Middle School's Service Learning Club, First Congregational Church's Middle School Youth Group and Elgin Boy Scout Troop 2 have volunteered to wait tables. Freewill donations also will be accepted at each supper and any additional contributions are accepted at any time. Come join this gathering of community members and witness the fellowship of a meal where everyone is valued and no one ever has to eat alone.

"The Church on the Hill" is located at 900 S. Eighth St. (Route 31 and Angle Tarn), West Dundee. For details, call (847) 426-2161 ext. 202 or visit www.fccdundee.com.
