Roselle man gets 4 years for attempted robbery

A Roselle man was sentenced to four years in prison after he admitted to following a Hoffman Estates woman into her apartment building and attempting to rob her at knife point.

Leon Bailey, 44, pleaded guilty Monday to attempted armed robbery. In addition to the prison sentence, he was ordered to pay $694 in fines, court records show.

Prosecutors said Bailey followed the woman into the vestibule July 8 and demanded her money. She fled and he followed. An unidentified person called police to report a man with a knife chasing someone. Police combed the area and found Bailey.

He received credit for 69 days in custody.
