82-year-old Spring Grove man reported missing

Police are asking for help in locating an 82-year-old Spring Grove man who was reported missing Friday afternoon and is considered endangered.

Donald Ukleja, from the 38200 block of North First Avenue in an unincorporated area of far northwestern Lake County, was reported missing about 2:30 p.m. Friday. He was last seen driving a black 2007 Toyota Tacoma with truck plates 63315X heading to Ringwood to pick up his grandson from work. He didn't arrive, according to Lake County sheriff's police.

Ukleja is a diabetic with dementia and other medical concerns and does not have his necessary medications with him, according to a news release issued Saturday. Given his medical history, it is possible he may have become disoriented or unconscious, police said.

He is believed to have a black and white Shih Tzu dog with him that has a collar with contact information for a family member. Ukleja lived in Bensenville in DuPage County for more than 30 years before moving to Spring Grove about 10 years ago.

Ukleja is 5-feet-7, 135 pounds, with gray receding hair. According to the release, he has a tattoo of a heart with an arrow on his left arm with the inscription “MOM.” He has a birthmark on his left inner ankle and scars on his back from previous surgery.

Anyone who sees Ukleja or the vehicle should call 911 or local authorities.
