A Rolling Meadows jury found a Streamwood man guilty late Wednesday of drug and weapons charges that will send him to prison for the rest of his life. But James Utley, previously convicted of delivery of a controlled substance and aggravated battery with a firearm, did not return to court for the verdict, which came after more than five hours of deliberations. A vehicle believed to be involved in a police chase flipped and caught fire Wednesday afternoon in East Dundee near Santa's Village, officials said. The crash happened just before 4 p.m. south of the intersection of routes 25 and 72. Full story.
Five charged after Huntley raid nets more than $700,000 in drugs, cars
A judged jailed a Huntley man on a $1 million bail following a raid on his home that netted luxury vehicles and drugs worth more than $700,000 on the street, police say. Group raises concern over state's proposed pot-DUI threshold
The Schaumburg-based Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists is opposing a move by state legislators that would set a 15-nanogram threshold for driving under the influence of THC - the active chemical in marijuana - for drivers to be considered legally impaired. Police: Skokie bank robber tried in Mt. Prospect first
Police believe a man who attempted to rob a Mount Prospect bank Wednesday morning went on to rob a Skokie bank about an hour later. The robber's physical descriptions match video surveillance from both banks, as well as a baseball cap that he's wearing, police said. Full story.

After years of trying to find the right development for a key downtown intersection, Barrington finally has its first business tenant on the publicly owned land at Hough and Main Streets.
