Police chase ends with crash, fire in E. Dundee

A vehicle believed to be involved in a police chase flipped and caught fire Wednesday afternoon in East Dundee near Santa's Village, officials said.

The crash happened just before 4 p.m. south of the intersection of routes 25 and 72.

"When we found it, it was on its roof in the Santa's Village area near one of the rides," East Dundee fire Lt. Joe Schwab said.

The crash and ensuing blaze heavily damaged the car, Schwab said. A fence at Santa's Village Azoosment Park was damaged, but the park was not open at the time.

The driver was treated and released at the scene, Kane County Lt. Patrick Gengler said.

Assisting departments were: Carpentersville fire, West Dundee fire, and Rutland Dundee fire, and the Kane County Sheriff's Office and East Dundee police.
